Kamini Ramdeen-Chowdhury wants to know how you found this page. Search? A link someone sent? A rabbit hole that started somewhere else entirely?
She's the director of web strategy at theSkimm, so she thinks about how readers find theSkimm.com a lot.
She's been at this for more than 14 years. Before she joined theSkimm, Kamini decided which stories millions of people would see when they opened their browsers at Yahoo and AOL. Prior to that, she led editorial production at Brown Girl Magazine, working with writers around the world on stories about identity, culture, and the South Asian diaspora. In 2021, she was the co-editor of untold: defining moments of the uprooted, a Purple Dragonfly Book Award-winning anthology about identity, migration, and belonging.
Here, at theSkimm, Kamini works across departments (Editorial, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales) to bring the Skimm HQ’s big ideas to life. In addition to that, she's worked on nationwide initiatives like Don't Wait Day (please book your annual doctor appointments) and our Off the Page book club (where the author comes too).
She also spends a lot of time thinking about AI — and whether this internet obsession will age better than the industry-wide pivot to video did (RIP). Either way, she’s curious about where things will go next. Kamini completed CUNY’s AI Adoption in Newsroom Lab in 2025 and built a proprietary GPT-based editorial assistant at theSkimm that helps teams with style guidance and legal-risk reviews.
Kamini has a bachelor's degree in history from St. John's University and lives in Queens. In her spare time, she makes lamps — mixing, pouring, sanding, painting, wiring, the whole thing. Apparently, she does not believe in easy hobbies.
You can find her work across theSkimm, where the goal is always the same: help Skimmrs get what they need, then get on with their day.
