The Court Delivers for Trump
MAHA won’t love this one: The Supreme Court ruled 7-2 Thursday that Monsanto can’t be sued in state court for not adding a cancer warning to its weed killer, Roundup. Why? Because the Environmental Protection Agency concluded that its active ingredient, glyphosate, isn’t likely to cause cancer when used as directed. Health advocates (including some MAHA activists) have long argued the herbicide is dangerous, citing a World Health Organization assessment that classified glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic.” Many farmers, meanwhile, say Roundup is essential to protecting the nation’s food supply. The odd couple of the ruling? Justices Ketanji Brown Jackson and Neil Gorsuch, who joined forces in dissent.
A pair of immigration wins: SCOTUS potentially expanded President Donald Trump’s power over immigration in two decisions. In a 6-3 ruling, the court agreed that the Trump administration should have the authority to rescind the temporary protection status of refugees from Haiti and Syria permitted to live and work in the US. Justice Elena Kagan's dissent quoted Trump's past baseless claims about Haitian immigrants. She argued that his administration used "racially inflected" evidence in its decision-making. In another case, the court said asylum-seeking migrants can be turned away right before physically crossing into the US, reviving a policy used during Trump’s first term. SCOTUS returns Monday to issue more decisions before breaking for the summer.

This Rematch Comes With Baggage
What’s going on: The Summer of Sports continues. Days after announcing new league rules that echo the 2026 FIFA World Cup, two National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) teams will take the pitch for a rematch — and bragging rights. During a month-long midseason break, the spotlight swings back to NY and NJ’s Gotham FC and the Kansas City Current tonight as they face off for the 2026 Challenge Cup. Last season, the eighth-seeded Gotham stunned the top-seeded Kansas City in a playoff upset and ended the Current’s record-setting regular-season run. Now, KC gets a chance at revenge — with a league trophy on the line.
Tell me more: “That game kind of hurt,” says Current defender Izzy Rodriguez, but her team got a small taste of redemption with a 2-1 regular-season win over Gotham earlier this year. Still, tonight’s Challenge Cup is their chance to even the score. This time, they'll do it with two-time league MVP Temwa Chawinga on the pitch, alongside Defender of the Year finalists Rodriguez and Kayla Sharples. Gotham will counter with firepower of its own: US Soccer Female Player of the Year Rose Lavelle and Jaedyn Shaw, who set a league record when she joined the club. Star power aside, only one team can win — and right now, it’s anyone’s game.

Emotional Labor
It’s Raining Men’s Tears, and Women Have To Hold the Umbrella
What's going on: Have you heard about the plight of men? Who are we kidding? Of course you have. Whether you’ve listened to a Manosphere podcaster bemoan the “crisis in masculinity,” a researcher address male loneliness, or you’ve personally played therapist to your brother or husband, you know all about Big Boy Problems™. And in recent years, the world at large has invested a lot in solving them. The Democratic Party spent $20 million to try to understand and solve the dilemmas of young men. There are “Man Camps” where they learn about emotions (led by women, of course). States like Michigan created special programs to encourage more young men to earn degrees. But lately, that narrative has started to change (slightly).
Will men always be the world’s special project?: Turns out, women don’t want to be responsible for fixing men’s loneliness (there’s a reason “daycare for men” went viral). While we're at it, we'd like to point out that women have problems, too — ones that have been ignored for years, either because we are underrepresented or too capable of “rising above” them on our own. Research shows women report anxiety and depression at higher rates, and the wage gap is still expansive, to name just a few. To be clear, men have very real issues that should be addressed, including higher rates of suicide and alcohol-related woes. But we’d love more structural solutions for our problems, too.
