  • Dyson Supersonic™ Travel Hair Dryer. This travel-size Dyson hair dryer has most of the elements of the full-size version, but with a less hefty price tag (it’s still pricey, but comparatively more affordable). I was delighted when I opened the box to find that it comes with its own smoothing attachment, which is crucial for wavy hair prone to frizzing. After setting a timer, I discovered that my hair was completely dry in 15 minutes (a personal best). Not only was my drying time shorter, but my hair was smoother and silkier than it’s been with other dryers. Plus, it’s incredibly lightweight, so I could see myself stashing it in a carry-on. If you’ve been toying with the thought of buying a Dyson, I would highly consider going for the travel version. And if you already have the larger version, you can use the attachments on this one. To sum it up: I love this little guy. ($299.99)

  • Conair Double Ceramic Frizz-Reducing Travel Dryer. I love that the folding handle allows it to collapse into a low-profile shape that easily slips into carry-ons, totes, or crowded duffels without taking up valuable space. So it’s perfect for trips where amenities are hit-or-miss, like Airbnbs, road trips, and cabins. But it only features two combined heat/speed settings, so if you’re picky about the setting you’re using on fine or damaged hair, it might not offer what you need. I also wish it came with a diffuser, but if you’re looking for an affordable, highly compact dryer that gets the job done, this is the one for you. ($34.99)

Sidenotes…

  • The Dyson automatically adjusts to the voltage of the outlet wherever you are. It’s also available at Sephora and Amazon.

  • The Conair has a retractable cord, which makes packing easier. They also make a slightly more expensive version that comes with a diffuser and concentrator nozzle.
